Crowdsource Recipe Testing + Sunday Funday

Posted on Jan 20, 2013 by in Sunday Funday | 0 comments

Happy Sunday, all!  Are you lucky enough to have tomorrow off? I am not, but that won’t stop me from having some fun today! Even though I don’t think it’s supposed to reach double digits temperature-wise today, I am going to make the most of my remaining weekend hours by spending quality time with the fam and watching football. What fun plans do you have for today?

This week I wanted to try something a little different. I am still going to give you some recipes to check out, but I also wanted to give you a few other things, such as a) songs to listen to, b) articles to read, and c) products to check out. I come across so much awesomeness on the web every week that I want to take this time to reflect on all of it and share the best of it with you all.

Recipes to Make Now

Cheesy Vegan Cauliflower Soup – Cheese and cauliflower? Yes, please!

Fava Bean and Almond Spread – This would be perfect for dipping on game day.

Black Bean Soup - This is a very interesting pureed version of vegan black bean soup.

Spiced Polenta Crackers – These would be perfect for placing in the fava bean and almond spread!

Songs to Listen To

“Thrift Shop” by Macklemore & Ryan Lewis – If you haven’t heard this song, listen to it now – and you can thank me later when you can’t get it out of your head :)

“I Will Wait” by Mumford and Sons – I know eventually this song will be overplayed, but for right now I’m enjoying every time it comes on.

“Something Good” by Alt J – I am going to this concert in March – so exciting!  Just a forewarning – the video is a little weird, but the song is amazing.

Other Good Stuff

“Chewed Up” by Julia Randall – This piece of art is both grotesque and beautiful. It’s hyperrealistic, so if you are into that be sure to check it out.

The Most Annoying Things About Being Vegan – This is a hilarious article on BuzzFeed. Sadly, it’s soooo true.

Portable Pizza Oven – I want this so hard. I can’t wait until it warms up so I can try to fashion one of these to put on our grill.

Organic Veggie Indoor Garden – I love the idea of growing some of my own veggies, but the lack of a yard makes it somewhat difficult. This bad boy is an ingenious way to grow my own stuff in my house – yes!
