Crowdsource Recipe Testing: Super Bowl Edition

Posted on Feb 4, 2012 by in Recipes | 0 comments

Hey everyone! I hope your weekend has been going well so far. I thought I would bring this week’s crowdsource recipe testing post to you a day early so that you have time to make some of these yummy snacks for the big game tomorrow. Even though my team isn’t playing tomorrow, I still love football and the Super Bowl is a great excuse to have  party and serve up decadent treats!

It was another tough week for me to pick just five of my favorites that I want to try – there are so many delicious-looking vegan goodies out there these days – which is a great problem to have!

Buffalo Chickn Tarts – Buffalo sauce is one of my favorite condiments and is a classic flavor for game day. Also, props on this recipe for using a whoopie pie pan to shape the tarts. (Photo: Spabettie)

Vegan Butterfinger Cupcakes – As if Butterfingers and cupcakes aren’t delicious enough on their own, this recipe takes both to the next level by combining them! These look so good I had to stop myself from licking my screen (because that would be indecent of me). (Photo: Manifest Vegan)

Sweet Potato Cupcakes – Apparently I’m on a cupcake kick, but I just had to include these sweet potato cupcakes. I love using somewhat savory ingredients in my desserts because I’m not big on sweets and these cupcakes fit the bill. A great semi-healthy treat to serve at your party!

Black Bean and Plantain Fritters – This was by far one of the most inventive recipes I saw this week. These fritters look fantastic and fairly simple to make as well. I love the idea of using plantains as part of the dough – so creative!

Vegan Nachos – Nothing says football quite like nachos and these are some of the most delectable looking ones I’ve seen! Easy to put together and always a hit with crowds – sounds like the perfect snack to me! (Photo: Sometimes I Veg)
