Ingredient Challenge #1: Wild Rice
For 2014 instead of doing my normal Sunday Funday roundups, I wanted to give you all an opportunity to feature your creations here. I know there are a lot of blogs out there that give you an ingredient to work with that you have to come up with a recipe for, but mine won’t quite be as formal as all that.
I simply want to challenge you to create a recipe or even just use an ingredient that I find interesting or tasty. I use a lot of ingredients that I sometimes feel get overlooked, so I want to give them a bit of the spotlight for a change.
How it will work: Each Sunday I’ll post a challenge ingredient along with a linky event that will allow you to link up your creation for others to see. I’m not requiring that it’s an original recipe, so you can just link it up if the ingredient was involved (can be a link to Instagram, FB, etc, not just blogs). The event will be open until midnight the following Sunday, so you have a full week to include yours.
This week the challenge ingredient is Wild Rice. I love wild rice for many reasons, one being that it is a native Minnesota crop. I love cooking with local ingredients and for me that’s about as local as it gets. One of my favorite wild rice recipes is my Cream of Wild Rice Soup. Even though soup is the most common use for wild rice, there are many other ways you can use it – and I’ll have a recipe for you later this week that does just that.
The linky event is below – I can’t wait to see what you all come up with!
