Vegan Cuts Snack Box

Hi everyone! Long time, no see! I’ve been on a lengthy sabbatical from the blog, and to be honest, it’s been a nice change of pace for me. I’ve been writing everyday though, and I imagine I won’t be able to stay away from this blog, and the vegan blogging community, for much longer. However, I need to get through this semester of teaching first – it’s been a doozy!

Anyway, the lovely folks over at Vegan Cuts sent me over their February Snack Box for review, and to be truthful, who can resist vegan snacks? Hint: not this girl.

Vegan Cuts Snack Box February

I was super excited when my snack box arrived, and it did not disappoint. This box was filled to the brim (literally) with all kinds of vegan delights to try. I have to say that my eye immediately went to the Earth Balance Sour Cream and Onion Chips. I haven’t been able to find any of the Earth Balance snacks in my area, not even at my local coop, so I was thrilled to finally be able to give them a try! And, in fact, they ended up being my favorite item in the box.

Earth Balance Sour Cream and Onion Chips

These sour cream and onion chips taste just as I remember the Lays tasting: slightly tangy with a hint of cool creaminess. They are crunchy just as a classic Lays chip is, though they have a bit more of a kettle-cooked thickness to them. I would definitely buy these if I found them again and may even scope out some of my favorite online vegan stores and have some sent to my house. They were delicious and nostalgic all at once – the perfect combo!

I was also very excited about the Nakd bar, as I was just in the process of ordering them before my snack box arrived! The flavor I received was chocolate orange and it was very reminiscent of a Tootsie Roll, which is something I can totally support. I very much enjoyed the flavor and texture (much like a Larabar), and I liked that it was packed with nutrients as well. I will definitely order some of these to keep on hand as a snack.

I also received an Equal Exchange Fruit and Nut chocolate bar, some The Daily Crave Veggie Chips, a Two Degrees Chocolate Peanut Butter bar, and some Hail Merry Strawberry Macaroons. The chocolate bar was tasty, but I’m not sure I like the chewy textures in my chocolate. Though the bar tasted fresh and light, I’d have to get used to that texture. The veggie chips were also very good, but I don’t think they were anything too special to be honest. I couldn’t really tell the difference between those and other veggie chips I’ve had in the past, but overall they had good flavor.

The Two Degrees Chocolate Peanut Butter bar was actually a pleasant surprise. It had a lot of seeds in it, which I wasn’t sure I’d like texture-wise, but I ended up very much enjoying the crunchy-chewy texture of the chia seeds. I was also a bit skeptical of the strawberry macaroons, however, I’d had other Hail Merry treats in the past and knew they’d probably be delicious. At first the strawberry flavor was a bit overpowering, but it didn’t stop me from eating both of them in a matter of minutes! Their macaroons have a wonderful chewy texture with a bit of bite from the coconut, and the strawberry flavor actually grew on me a bit.

Runa Tea

As you all know, I am a tea addict, so I was very happy to see two bags of Runa tea in the snack box. Although the ginger citrus was a bit bland, the mint was a hit with me (surprising, I know 🙂 ). I like that the teas are organic and that they have natural ingredients to boost energy and focus. I’d definitely pick up a box of the mint tea again.

Overall, this snack box was a huge hit. If you haven’t already signed up for the Vegan Cuts Snack Box, be sure to do so. It’s a great deal and each month is like Christmas when you get your little box of vegan goodies delivered to your doorstep!
